Superheroes

Honorable. Protective. Truthful.

From Small-Town Girl to Superhero Jett McCloud

Through perseverance and determination, Skylar Bolt proved that she could define her identity. After moving to Washington, D.C. from her hometown of Barkley, Missouri, Skylar earned a degree in forensic nursing. She rose to become director of the internationally acclaimed Codetech Forensic Labs in D.C., after solving a ghastly murder along the Potomac River for the Metropolitan Police Department.

To a chosen few, Skylar is also known as Jett McCloud, a cybercrime-fighting superhero, who, along with her supercat Ping, uphold the tenets of the CIA Triad — Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability — to save the world from the pernicious plots of 16 critical infrastructure supervillains.

Among the chosen few is significant other Leo McNeil, her little brother Lucas and her superhero neighbors: Tony Longo, aka "Disco Man," Wally "Bugs" Smith and cool dude Cobol Cache. But he's just known as "The Man."

Family and friends

Lucas Bolt

Lucas Bolt, a computer wunderkind, is Skylar's little brother and an 8th grader at Mulholland Middle School in Northwest D.C. When he's not learning a new programming language, Lucas is a Trace Labs junkie and helps them crowdsource open source intelligence to unite missing persons with their families.

Leo McNeil

Leo McNeil, a NASA rocket scientist, moved from Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, to D.C. to be closer to Skylar. A kind and generous soul, Leo struggles with Skylar's independence but gives her space to help her make the difference that she wants to see in herself.

Tony Longo, "Disco Man"

Tony Longo spends his free time retrospecting about the Seventies disco scene, waiting for a resurgence of disco glam. He delivers pizza for Bits 'n Bites in Adams Morgan and teams up with Jett as a cybercrime-fighting superhero, throwing glitter packets in the face of malware to reroute or disable it.

Wally Smith, "Bugs"

Wally Smith, a bookkeeper, seems to klutz everything — all the time. But the brainiac side of him emerges when he helps Jett find a supervillain's hideout. He's a digital forensics master, but sometimes forgets the rules for preserving digital evidence.

Cobol Cache, "The Man"

Cobol Cache is the total package. In college, he was president of the STEM club and a champion rower, earning a spot on USRowing's senior national team for his jaw-dropping erg scores. Jett calls on Cobol to save mainframes from malware, and that makes Cache, "The Man." He's also Skylar's mixed doubles partner, a source of friction for Leo who'd rather play the Settlers of Catan than hop in a rowing shell.

Jett McCloud

Skylar Bolt was born and raised in an American Midwestern town where the peculiarities of life would have been too normal to notice in a big city. As a child, Skylar had an early fascination with anatomy and grew up to head a forensics crime lab. When playing her little brother's VR game, a power surge imbued her crypto-bionic implant with the knowledge of the Dark Web.

Skylar's transformation into Jett McCloud empowered her with cyberpatch stars, firewall shields and a VLAN portal to escape when there's no way out. Her adventures enthrall her to eradicate cyber threats that have infiltrated the lifelines of society for money, power and greed.

The force of her power relies on credentialed scans to identify vulnerabilities that can only be seen by Dr. Hera, who patches her when she finds one. But the human texture of her existence makes her prone to falling for attacks that deceive her in much the same way that the CIA used trickery and deception to foil the surveillance efforts of the KGB during the Cold War.
